Jayden Schaper claims back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a stunning chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
South African Jayden Schaper delivered another thrilling performance to win the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, the final event of the 2025 DP World Tour season. Just a week after his playoff victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, Schaper once again triumphed in extra holes—this time with a spectacular chip-in eagle to edge out American Ryan Gerard at La Réserve Golf Links.
Schaper opened his final round with two birdies and an eagle on the front nine, followed by four more birdies on the back nine to card an impressive 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring six birdies, which brought both players to a 22-under-par total and forced a playoff.
On the second playoff hole, Schaper sealed the win in style by holing out for eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The 24-year-old South African now heads into the offseason with two consecutive DP World Tour victories, both decided in playoffs.
Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’
Speaking after his win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his recent success: ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t even know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like this. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year, and so will the New Year.’
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured third place after a steady week, though his final-round 71 included three bogeys and four birdies.
Mixed results for German players on final day
Germany’s Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had been closely matched throughout the tournament, both struggled in the final round. Schneider started solidly but faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey on the 12th, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at -4. Siem also shot a disappointing 76 (+4), matching Schneider’s total score.
Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, posted an even-par round on Sunday to finish T48 at -1.
