Schneider and Siem Climb Leaderboard at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong rounds on Saturday to move into contention at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

On Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem played impressive rounds to position themselves well for the final day. Schneider carded a six-under-par 66 to climb into a tie for ninth, while Siem shot a four-under 68 to sit T14 heading into Sunday. South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard lead the field at 16 under par, with Gerard firing a standout 63.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider produced a near-flawless round to break into the top 10. He opened his birdie account on the 4th hole and followed up with two more on 5 and 6. A fourth birdie came at the 8th, before his only blemish of the day—a bogey on the 9th, the same hole that troubled him on the previous two days. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on the back nine at holes 12, 13, and 14, finishing with a 66 and moving to T9.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with just one birdie on the front nine at hole 3. A bogey on 10 set him back, but he responded with a flurry of four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15. After a second bogey on 16, he closed with a final birdie on 18 to post a 68. At T14, Siem remains in the hunt for a strong finish.

Ryan Gerard surges with birdie blitz

Ryan Gerard delivered the round of the day with a nine-under-par 63. Despite an early bogey on the 2nd, he bounced back with birdies on 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go three under at the turn. The back nine featured a stunning run of five straight birdies from holes 12 to 16. He capped off his round with a tenth birdie on the 18th, vaulting him into a share of the lead.
