Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.
Golf fans in Germany will see a major shift in TV coverage beginning January 2026. After years of exclusivity with Sky, Telekom has acquired the broadcast rights for PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour events through its platform Magenta TV. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029 will also be shown on Magenta TV. However, Sky will retain the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.
300 Days of Golf on Two Dedicated Magenta TV Channels
The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually, spread across two new dedicated channels—MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2—launching in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will feature full tournament coverage, while MS Golf 2 will offer supplementary content such as player features, current stories, and historical highlights. On-demand content will also be available. Coverage kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The golf programming will be included at no extra cost for all Magenta TV customers and also available to MagentaSport subscribers.
“Golf has found a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we offer Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee to the final putt, we’ll present every tournament like never before—live, informative, and with a modern storytelling approach,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom.
Sky Retains the Majors
Despite losing a significant portion of golf coverage, Sky will continue to broadcast all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the most prestigious events in men’s and women’s golf, such as the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors. As a result, fans who want to follow both weekly tournaments and the Majors will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky.
