Strong Moving Day for Schneider and Siem at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem impressed on Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, climbing into contention.

On Saturday at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, part of the DP World Tour, German golfers Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong performances to move into promising positions ahead of the final round. Schneider carded a six-under-par 66 to climb to T9, while Siem followed with a four-under 68 to reach T14. South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard share the lead at 16-under-par, with Gerard firing a sensational 63.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider played a nearly flawless round to break into the top 10. He opened his birdie account on the 4th hole and quickly followed up with birdies on the 5th and 6th. A fourth birdie came on the 8th, but the 9th hole once again proved tricky, as he recorded his only bogey of the day—his third consecutive bogey on that hole this week. Undeterred, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on holes 12, 13, and 14 to finish with a 66 and move into T9.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with a lone birdie on the 3rd hole. His round gained momentum on the back nine, despite a bogey on 10. He then rattled off four straight birdies from holes 12 to 15, quickly climbing the leaderboard. After another bogey on 16, he closed with a birdie on the 18th to finish with a 68, placing him T14 with a shot at a top result.

Ryan Gerard surges with birdie blitz

Ryan Gerard delivered the round of the day with a nine-under-par 63. After a bogey on the 2nd hole, he bounced back with birdies on 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go three-under at the turn. His back nine was electric, featuring five consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 16. He capped off the round with a final birdie on the 18th, bringing his total to 10 birdies and earning a share of the lead at 16-under-par.
