Jayden Schaper claims his second straight DP World Tour win with a dramatic chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
South African golfer Jayden Schaper pulled off another stunning victory at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, winning in a playoff for the second consecutive week. The 24-year-old triumphed over American Ryan Gerard at La Réserve Golf Links, capping off the 2025 DP World Tour season in spectacular fashion.
Schaper opened his final round with two birdies and an eagle on the front nine, then added four more birdies on the back nine to card a brilliant 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring six birdies, to force a playoff after both players finished at 22-under-par.
In the playoff, Schaper sealed the win with a sensational chip-in eagle on the second extra hole, while Gerard could only manage par. The win marks Schaper’s second DP World Tour title in as many weeks, following his playoff victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’
Speaking after his win, an emotional Schaper said: ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like that. It was such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course — from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas will be great this year, and so will the New Year.’
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis finished in solo third place. Despite a solid showing throughout the week, his final-round 71 included three bogeys and four birdies, preventing a stronger challenge for the title.
Mixed results for German players on final day
Germany’s Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem both struggled during the final round. Schneider, who had been in contention earlier in the week, faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at -4. Siem also posted a disappointing 76 (+4), matching Schneider’s total score.
Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot an even-par round on Sunday to finish T48 at -1 overall.
