Jayden Schaper wins AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in playoff

Jayden Schaper claims back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a dramatic chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

Jayden Schaper has done it again. Just a week after his victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, the South African golfer secured another win at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, the final event of the 2025 DP World Tour season. Held at La Réserve Golf Links on the picturesque island of Mauritius, Schaper triumphed in a playoff for the second week in a row, this time defeating American Ryan Gerard with a spectacular chip-in eagle on the second extra hole.

Schaper started strong with two birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the 5th hole. He maintained his momentum on the back nine, adding four more birdies to card an impressive 64 (-8) in the final round. Gerard matched the pressure with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring six birdies, to force the playoff after both players finished at 22-under-par.

In the playoff, Schaper sealed the win in stunning fashion by holing out from off the green for eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The 24-year-old celebrated his second consecutive DP World Tour victory, both achieved in playoffs, capping off a remarkable end to his 2025 season.

Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

Speaking after his win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his incredible run: ‘The last three weeks have been unbelievable. I don’t know what to say. To finish a tournament like this is just crazy. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year, and so will the new year.’

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis finished solo third after a final-round 71 that included four birdies and three bogeys. Jarvis had been a consistent presence near the top of the leaderboard throughout the tournament.

Mixed results for German players

Germany’s Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider both struggled on the final day. Schneider began solidly but faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey on the 12th, finishing with a 78 to drop to T37 at -4. Siem also had a tough round, carding a 76 (+4) with three birdies offset by two bogeys and three double bogeys, ending tied with Schneider.

Nick Bachem, the only other German to make the cut, shot even par in the final round to finish T48 at -1 overall.
