Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong third rounds at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, entering the final day in contention.
On Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, German golfers Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem made significant moves up the leaderboard. Schneider carded a six-under-par 66 to climb into a tie for 9th place, while Siem’s four-under 68 placed him T14 heading into the final round. At the top, South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard share the lead at 16-under-par, with Gerard firing a sensational 63.
DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late
Marcel Schneider played a nearly flawless round on Saturday to break into the top 10. After opening with a birdie on hole 4, he followed up with two more on holes 5 and 6. A fourth birdie came at hole 8, but a bogey on the 9th—his only blemish of the day—slightly dampened his front nine. Notably, he had bogeyed the same hole on the previous two days. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on holes 12, 13, and 14 to finish with a 66 and move into T9.
Marcel Siem had a slower start, with a lone birdie on hole 3. After a bogey on hole 10, he caught fire with four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15. Despite another bogey on 16, he closed with a birdie on 18 to finish at four-under for the day. His 68 puts him at T14, still within reach of a strong finish.
Ryan Gerard surges with birdie blitz
Ryan Gerard produced the round of the day with a nine-under-par 63. Despite an early bogey on hole 2, he bounced back with birdies on holes 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go three-under at the turn. The back nine was even more impressive, featuring a stunning run of five straight birdies from holes 12 to 16. He capped his round with a final birdie on 18, bringing his total to ten birdies and vaulting him into a share of the lead.
