Tight Race for PGA Tour Cards at Butterfield Bermuda Championship

German players stay mid-pack as the Butterfield Bermuda Championship heats up with PGA Tour cards on the line.At the top of the leaderboard, the Butterfield Bermuda Championship is turning into a nail-biter, with six players within one stroke of the lead. Adam Schenk and Braden Thornberry currently share the top spot, both aiming to break into the top 100 of the FedExCup standings to secure their PGA Tour cards for 2026. Takumi Kanaya, tied for third, is also in striking distance of the top 100, while Max McGreevy, currently ranked 100th, could breathe easier with a strong finish.

Schenk and Kanaya made the biggest moves in Round 3. Schenk carded a bogey-free 67, while Kanaya posted a 66. Thornberry, however, faces the most pressure—only a win will push him into the top 100. Schenk acknowledged the stakes: “I wish I had done this earlier in the season, but here we are,” he said after his round.

Germany’s Thomas Rosenmüller would also need a win to crack the top 100. He sits at T24 after an eagle on the 17th brought him to one under par, but remains eight shots off the lead. His current position does little to improve his FedExCup standing.

Matti Schmid, who has already secured his Tour card, improved to T32 with a 69, recovering from a bogey and double bogey on the front nine with two late birdies. Jeremy Paul also made gains, shooting a 70 to move up to T48 after slipping in Round 2.

Butterfield Bermuda Championship: Final Round Stakes

With so much on the line, the final round promises high drama. For players like Thornberry and Schenk, it’s a last chance to avoid Q-School and lock in their future on the PGA Tour.
