Caleb Surratt and Adrian Meronk lead after Round 1 of the PIF Saudi International as Martin Kaymer sits mid-field.
The Asian Tour teed off its final International Series event of the season on Wednesday at the Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia. The PIF Saudi International powered by Softbank Investment Advisers not only offers a significant purse but also a chance for the top two players on the International Series Order of Merit to earn a spot in the 2026 LIV Golf League. With 43 LIV Golf players in the field, including stars like Tyrrell Hatton, Louis Oosthuizen, and Paul Casey, the tournament boasts a strong lineup. Among them are Martin Kaymer and his LIV teammate Adrian Meronk. The winner of the event also secures 324 valuable points toward their LIV Golf ranking.
LIV Golfers Lead the Field
LIV Golf’s Caleb Surratt and Adrian Meronk share the lead after impressive opening rounds. Surratt carded a 62, highlighted by 10 birdies and a single bogey on the fourth hole. Meronk matched his score with a steady front nine and a birdie-filled back nine, finishing at nine under par. Close behind is Belgian LIV golfer Thomas Pieters, who shot a 63 with eight birdies to sit in solo third. England’s Tyrrell Hatton, a 2023 Ryder Cup winner and LIV newcomer, is tied for ninth at five under par alongside six others.
Kaymer Mid-Pack, Other Germans Trail
Martin Kaymer, the German LIV veteran, finished his first round at two under par with three birdies and one bogey, placing him T42. Fellow Düsseldorfer Maximilian Rottluff, currently on the DP World Tour, posted an even-par 70, balancing four birdies against three bogeys to sit T64. Dominic Foos, who claimed his first professional title on the Asian Tour in Macau in October 2025, struggled with a 74 that included four bogeys and just one birdie, leaving him at T106.
