Schneider and Siem in Contention After Strong Moving Day in Mauritius

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem impressed on Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, heading into the final round in strong positions.

At the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong performances on Saturday to position themselves well for the final round. Schneider carded a six-under-par 66 to move up to T9, while Siem shot a four-under 68 to sit at T14. The tournament is led by South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard, both at 16-under-par. Gerard dazzled with a stunning 63, the best round of the day.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider played a nearly flawless round to break into the top 10. After opening with a birdie on the 4th hole, he followed up with two more on 5 and 6. Another birdie on the 8th was slightly offset by a bogey on the 9th—his only dropped shot of the day and the third consecutive round he bogeyed that hole. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added birdies on 12, 13, and 14 to finish with a 66 and climb to T9.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with a lone birdie on the 3rd hole. A bogey on the 10th set him back, but he rebounded with a flurry of birdies from holes 12 to 15. After another bogey on 16, he closed with a birdie on 18 to post a 68. Sitting at T14, Siem remains in contention for a strong finish.

Ryan Gerard surges to the top with birdie blitz

Ryan Gerard delivered the round of the day with a nine-under 63. Despite an early bogey on the 2nd hole, he bounced back with birdies on 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go three-under on the front nine. The back nine was even more impressive, as Gerard rattled off five consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 16. He capped off his round with another birdie on 18, bringing his total to ten birdies for the day and vaulting him into a share of the lead.
