Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card after a tense playoff at Q-School in Hua Hin. Other Germans miss the cut.
The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, saw 35 players earn their Asian Tour cards—among them, Germany’s Marc Hammer. After five intense days of competition, China’s Lin Yuxin topped the leaderboard and led the Q-School graduates. The left-hander closed with a 67 (-4), continuing his impressive run of rounds (68–67–70–67), and finished at 16-under-par to claim the top spot.
Milestone moment for Lin Yuxin
Yuxin’s victory marks a significant milestone in his professional career. A two-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2017, 2019), he played college golf at the University of Florida before turning pro in 2023. Competing on the PGA Tour Americas and select Korn Ferry Tour events, Yuxin has struggled with putting, which he described as mostly “mental.” “I played well all season but had putting issues, especially in the summer. I worked hard on it in October and November, and my game has felt good since,” he said. “It’s been tough with many ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro—it’s been a valuable experience.”
India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya followed closely behind, firing rounds of 70–67–65–66 before stumbling with a 72 on the final day, finishing at 15-under-par. Canada’s Henry Lee secured third place at 14-under-par.
Marc Hammer clinches Asian Tour card in playoff
The battle for the final Tour cards came down to a dramatic playoff. Twelve players tied at 5-under-par for 28th place competed for the remaining eight cards. The playoff extended over five holes, with eight players ultimately securing their spots—including Germany’s Marc Hammer from Sandhausen. The 27-year-old delivered a steady performance throughout the tournament, closing with a 70 (-2) and building on earlier rounds of 71–67–72–70. Hammer, who has prior experience on the DP World Tour, demonstrated his competitive edge last season with three top-10 finishes.
Other German participants at the Q-School failed to make the cut after the fourth round. Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118) all missed out on earning a Tour card.
