Jayden Schaper claims the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open with a dramatic chip-in eagle in a playoff, his second win in two weeks.
South African golfer Jayden Schaper continued his stellar form by winning the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, held at La Réserve Golf Links. Just a week after his playoff victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, Schaper once again triumphed in extra holes—this time with a spectacular chip-in eagle to defeat American Ryan Gerard in the final event of the 2025 DP World Tour season.
Schaper opened his final round with two birdies and an eagle on the 5th hole. He maintained momentum on the back nine, adding four more birdies to card a brilliant 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring six birdies, bringing both players to a 22-under-par total and forcing a playoff.
On the second playoff hole, Schaper sealed the win in style, holing out from off the green for eagle while Gerard could only manage par. It marked Schaper’s second consecutive DP World Tour victory—both coming via playoffs.
Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’
Following his win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his incredible run: ‘The last three weeks have been unbelievable. I don’t even know what to say. Ending a tournament like that is just crazy. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas will be great this year and so will the New Year.’
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured third place after a final-round 71 that included four birdies and three bogeys. He remained a consistent presence near the top of the leaderboard throughout the week.
Mixed results for German players in Mauritius
Germany’s Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had tracked closely on the leaderboard during the tournament, both struggled on the final day. Schneider, who started solidly with just one bogey on the front nine, faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at -4. Siem also had a tough round, mixing three birdies with two bogeys and three double bogeys for a 76, also ending T37 at -4.
Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, posted an even-par final round to finish T48 at -1 overall.
