Marc Hammer earns Asian Tour card after playoff at Q-School

Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card in Hua Hin after a tense playoff. Other German players miss the cut after round four.

The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, concluded with 35 players earning their tour cards — including Germany’s Marc Hammer. After five intense days of competition, China’s Lin Yuxin topped the leaderboard, finishing at 16-under-par to claim the top spot and lead the Q-School graduates.

Milestone win for Lin Yuxin

Yuxin’s victory marks a significant milestone in the career of the highly regarded left-hander. A two-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2017, 2019), he played collegiate golf at the University of Florida before turning professional in 2023. He has since competed on the PGA Tour Americas and in select Korn Ferry Tour events. Yuxin admitted to mental struggles with his putting earlier in the season, saying, “I played well all year but had trouble with the putter, especially in the summer. I worked hard on it in October and November, and my game has felt good again for a while now.” He added, “It’s been tough, with lots of ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro — it’s been a very valuable experience.”

India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya followed closely behind, finishing second at 15-under-par after a final-round 72 that included four bogeys. Canadian Henry Lee took third place at 14-under-par.

Marc Hammer clinches Asian Tour card in playoff

The battle for the final tour cards came down to a dramatic playoff. Twelve players tied at five-under-par for 28th place, vying for the last eight available spots. The playoff extended over five holes, ultimately awarding cards to eight players — including Germany’s Marc Hammer. The 27-year-old from Sandhausen, Baden-Württemberg, delivered a steady performance throughout the tournament, finishing the final round with a 70 (-2) and building on his earlier rounds of 71–67–72–70. Hammer, who has previous experience on the DP World Tour, demonstrated his competitiveness last season with three top-10 finishes.

Other German participants — Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118) — failed to make the cut after the fourth round.
