DP World Tour: Schneider and Siem in Contention After Strong Moving Day

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem impressed on Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open and head into the final round in strong positions.

At the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, part of the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong performances on Saturday to climb the leaderboard. Schneider carded a six-under-par 66 to move into a tie for 9th, while Siem shot a 68 and sits tied for 14th heading into Sunday’s final round. South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard lead the tournament at 16-under-par, with Gerard firing a sensational 63 to join the top spot.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider produced a near-flawless round to break into the top 10. After opening with a birdie on the 4th hole, he added two more on holes 5 and 6. A fourth birdie came at the 8th, but the 9th hole once again proved tricky, as he made his only bogey of the day—his third bogey on that hole this week. Undeterred, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on the back nine (holes 12, 13, and 14) to finish with a 66 and climb to T9.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with just one birdie on the front nine at hole 3. A bogey on the 10th initially set him back, but he bounced back with a flurry of four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15. After a second bogey on 16, he closed strong with a birdie on the 18th to finish with a 68. At T14, Siem remains in contention for a top finish.

Ryan Gerard’s birdie blitz earns share of lead

Ryan Gerard delivered the round of the day with a nine-under-par 63. Despite an early bogey on hole 2, the American quickly recovered with birdies on holes 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go three-under at the turn. He then caught fire on the back nine, rattling off five straight birdies from holes 12 through 16. A final birdie on the 18th capped off a remarkable round, putting him in a tie for the lead at 16-under-par.
