Jayden Schaper wins AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in playoff thriller

Jayden Schaper claims back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a dramatic chip-in eagle to win the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

South African Jayden Schaper continued his winning streak on the DP World Tour by capturing the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open title in spectacular fashion. Just a week after his playoff victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, Schaper once again triumphed in extra holes—this time with a stunning chip-in eagle on the second playoff hole to edge out American Ryan Gerard at La Réserve Golf Links.

Schaper set the tone early with two birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the 5th hole. He maintained his momentum on the back nine with four additional birdies, carding a bogey-free 64 (-8) in the final round. Gerard kept the pressure on throughout the day, firing a 66 (-6) with six birdies and no bogeys to force a playoff at 22-under-par.

In the playoff, Schaper delivered a moment of brilliance, holing out from off the green for eagle while Gerard could only manage par. The win marks Schaper’s second consecutive DP World Tour title, both secured in playoffs, capping off a memorable end to his 2025 season.

Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

Speaking after the win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his recent success: ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like this. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas will be great this year, and so will the New Year.’

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured solo third place after a steady performance throughout the tournament. His final round included four birdies and three bogeys for a 71, finishing just behind the leaders.

Mixed results for German players in final round

German duo Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had been closely matched throughout the tournament, both struggled on the final day. Schneider started solidly but faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at four-under-par. Siem also had a tough round, offsetting three birdies with three double bogeys and two bogeys to post a 76, also ending at T37.

Nick Bachem, the only other German to make the cut, shot even par in the final round and finished T48 at one-under-par overall.
