Jayden Schaper wins back-to-back DP World Tour titles in playoffs

Jayden Schaper claims the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open title with a dramatic chip-in eagle in a playoff, his second win in two weeks.

South African golfer Jayden Schaper continued his sensational form on the DP World Tour by winning the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at La Réserve Golf Links. Just a week after his playoff victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, Schaper once again triumphed in extra holes, this time defeating American Ryan Gerard with a spectacular chip-in eagle on the second playoff hole.

Schaper started strong with two birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the 5th hole. He maintained his momentum on the back nine, adding four more birdies to card an impressive final-round 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on throughout the day, posting a bogey-free 66 (-6) with six birdies, forcing a playoff as both players finished at 22-under-par.

In the playoff, Schaper sealed the win in style, holing out from off the green for eagle while Gerard could only manage par. The 24-year-old celebrated his second consecutive DP World Tour victory, both coming via playoffs, capping off a memorable end to his 2025 season.

Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

Speaking emotionally after his win, Schaper said: ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t even know what to say. To finish a tournament like that is just crazy. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year, and so is the new year.’

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis claimed solo third place after a steady tournament performance. His final round included four birdies and three bogeys, resulting in a 71 and a strong finish just behind the leaders.

Mixed results for German players on final day

German duo Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had mirrored each other’s progress throughout the tournament, struggled on the final day. Schneider, who began steadily with just one bogey on the front nine, faltered on the back nine with three more bogeys and a double bogey on the 12th, ending with a 78 and dropping to T37 at four-under-par.

Siem also had a tough final round, with three birdies offset by two bogeys and three double bogeys, finishing with a 76 and matching Schneider at T37. Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot even-par on Sunday to finish T48 at one-under-par overall.
