Jayden Schaper wins back-to-back titles on DP World Tour

Jayden Schaper clinches the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open title with another playoff win, finishing with a spectacular chip-in eagle.

Jayden Schaper has done it again. The South African golfer secured his second consecutive victory on the DP World Tour by winning the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at La Réserve Golf Links. Just a week after his triumph at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, Schaper once again prevailed in a playoff, this time edging out American Ryan Gerard in dramatic fashion.

Schaper started strong with two birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the 5th hole. He maintained his momentum on the back nine, adding four more birdies to card an impressive 64 (-8) in the final round. Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring four birdies on the front and two more on the back nine.

Both players finished the tournament at 22-under-par, forcing a playoff. On the second extra hole, Schaper sealed the win with a stunning chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The victory marks Schaper’s second straight playoff win and caps off a remarkable end to his 2025 season.

Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

Following his win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his incredible run: ‘The last three weeks have been unbelievable. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like that. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course — from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas will be great this year, and so will the New Year.’

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis finished third after a final round of 71, which included four birdies and three bogeys. Jarvis had been in contention throughout the week but couldn’t keep pace on the final day.

Mixed results for German players

German duo Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had been neck-and-neck during the tournament, both struggled in the final round. Schneider, after a steady front nine, faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey on the 12th, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at four-under-par.

Siem also had a rough day, with three birdies offset by three double bogeys and two bogeys, resulting in a 76 and a share of 37th place alongside Schneider. Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot even par on the final day and finished T48 at one-under-par.
