Stewart Cink captures the Charles Schwab Cup Championship title. Alex Cejka climbs to T6, Bernhard Langer drops to 14th.
With a bogey-free final round of 67, Stewart Cink clinched victory at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship on Sunday, overtaking Steven Alker in both the tournament and the season-long Charles Schwab Cup standings. The American carded four birdies—two on the front nine and two on the back—to finish at 4-under par for the day. Alker, who entered the final round ahead, posted five birdies but was set back by four bogeys, including two on holes 10 and 12. A costly out-of-bounds shot on the 18th hole dashed his hopes for a playoff, leaving him two strokes behind Cink and in second place.
PGA Tour Champions: Cejka Finishes Strong, Langer Slips
Alex Cejka delivered a solid final round, shooting a 67 to climb into a tie for sixth place. The 54-year-old played a clean round without a single bogey, notching three birdies on the front nine and adding another on the 18th to finish at 4-under par for the tournament.
Bernhard Langer, who had been in contention over the first three rounds, struggled on Sunday with a 72. Despite starting strong with three birdies in his first seven holes, bogeys on holes 3 and 9 left him at -1 through the front nine. A birdie on 14 was offset by a double bogey on 15 and another bogey on 17, resulting in a 1-over-par round and a drop to 14th place overall.
