Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card in Hua Hin after a dramatic playoff. Other German players miss the cut after round four.
The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, concluded with 35 players earning their tour cards — including Germany’s Marc Hammer. After five intense days of competition, China’s Lin Yuxin topped the leaderboard, finishing at 16-under-par and leading the Q-School field. The left-hander closed with a 67 (-4), continuing his strong form from earlier rounds (68–67–70–67).
Milestone win for Lin Yuxin
Lin’s victory marks a significant milestone in the career of the highly regarded golfer. A two-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2017, 2019), Lin played college golf at the University of Florida before turning professional in 2023. He has since competed on the PGA Tour Americas and select Korn Ferry Tour events. Putting issues, which he described as mostly mental, had previously held him back. “I’ve played well all season but struggled with the putter, especially in the summer,” Lin said. “I worked hard on it in October and November, and now my game feels good again.” He added, “It’s been tough with lots of ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro — it’s been a valuable experience.”
India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya followed closely in second place at 15-under-par, after a final round 72 with four bogeys. Canada’s Henry Lee finished third at 14-under-par.
Marc Hammer clinches Asian Tour ticket in playoff
The battle for the final tour cards was especially tense, with twelve players tied at five-under-par for 28th place entering a playoff for the remaining eight spots. The playoff extended over five holes, ultimately awarding cards to eight players — including Germany’s Marc Hammer from Sandhausen. The 27-year-old delivered a steady performance throughout the tournament, closing with a 70 (-2) to complement his earlier rounds of 71–67–72–70. Hammer, who has previous experience on the DP World Tour, demonstrated his competitiveness last season with three top-10 finishes.
Other German participants — Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118) — failed to make the cut after round four.
