The 156th Open Championship will take place in August 2028 to avoid a scheduling conflict with the Olympic Games.

The Olympic golf competitions are scheduled to take place between July 19 and 29. Consequently, the Senior Open Championship will be held from August 10 to 13, and the Women’s Open from August 17 to 20.
