Jayden Schaper secures back-to-back DP World Tour victories with a dramatic chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
South African golfer Jayden Schaper claimed his second consecutive DP World Tour title with a thrilling playoff victory at the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. Held at La Réserve Golf Links, the final event of the DP World Tour season ended in spectacular fashion as Schaper holed a chip-in eagle on the second playoff hole to defeat American Ryan Gerard.
Schaper started strong with two birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the 5th hole. He maintained momentum on the back nine with four more birdies, carding an impressive final round of 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring four birdies on the front nine and two more on the back.
Both players finished at 22-under-par, forcing a playoff. On the second extra hole, Schaper delivered a sensational chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The win marks Schaper’s second straight playoff victory, following his triumph at the Alfred Dunhill Championship the previous week.
Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’
Speaking after his win, Schaper expressed his joy: ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like that. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year, and so is the New Year.’
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured solo third place after a final round 71, which included four birdies and three bogeys. Jarvis had been in contention throughout the week but couldn’t match the leaders on Sunday.
Mixed results for German players
German golfers Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had tracked closely throughout the tournament, struggled on the final day. Schneider opened steadily but faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at four-under-par—tied with Siem, who also shot a disappointing 76 (+4).
Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, posted an even-par round on Sunday to finish T48 at one-under-par overall.
