Schneider and Siem Climb Leaderboard at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem impressed on Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, heading into Sunday in strong positions.

At the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong third rounds to position themselves well for the final day. Schneider fired a six-under-par 66 to climb into a tie for ninth place, while Siem carded a 68 to sit tied for 14th. The tournament is currently led by South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard, who both stand at 16-under-par. Gerard’s round was particularly noteworthy, as he posted a sensational 63.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem rallies late

Marcel Schneider played a nearly flawless round on Saturday to break into the top 10. He opened his birdie account on the 4th hole and followed it up with two more on holes 5 and 6. After another birdie on the 8th, his only blemish came at the 9th hole—his third bogey on that hole in as many days. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on the back nine (holes 12, 13, and 14) to finish with a 66 and move to T9.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with just one birdie on the front nine at hole 3. A bogey on 10 set him back, but he caught fire with four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15. Despite a bogey on 16, he closed with a birdie on 18 to sign for a 68. At T14, Siem remains in contention for a strong finish.

Ryan Gerard surges with birdie blitz

Ryan Gerard delivered the round of the day with a nine-under-par 63. After an early bogey on hole 2, the American bounced back with birdies on 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go out in 33. On the back nine, he caught fire with five straight birdies from holes 12 to 16, then capped his round with another birdie on 18. His ten-birdie performance vaulted him into a share of the lead heading into Sunday.
