Marc Hammer earns Asian Tour card after playoff at Q-School

Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card after a dramatic playoff at Q-School in Hua Hin. Other Germans miss the cut.

The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, concluded with 35 players earning their tour cards — among them, German golfer Marc Hammer. After five intense days of competition, China’s Lin Yuxin topped the leaderboard, leading the 2025 Asian Tour Q-School graduates. The left-hander closed with a 67 (-4), continuing his strong form from earlier rounds (68–67–70–67). At 16-under-par overall, the 25-year-old comfortably secured his spot on the Asian Tour.

Milestone moment for Lin Yuxin

Lin’s victory marks a significant milestone in his promising career. A two-time Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship winner (2017, 2019), he played college golf at the University of Florida before turning pro in 2023. Since then, he has competed on the PGA Tour Americas and select Korn Ferry Tour events. Putting woes, which he described as mostly “mental,” had held him back. “I played well all season, but especially during the summer I struggled with the putter,” Lin said. “I worked hard on it in October and November, and my game has felt good since then.” He added, “It’s been tough with lots of ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro — it’s been a very valuable experience.”

India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya followed closely behind, impressing with rounds of 70–67–65–66 before stumbling with a 72 on the final day, including four bogeys. He finished second at 15-under-par. Canadian Henry Lee claimed third place at 14-under.

Marc Hammer prevails in playoff to earn Asian Tour card

The battle for the final tour cards came down to a tense playoff. Twelve players tied at five-under-par (T28) competed for the remaining eight spots. The playoff stretched across five holes, with eight players ultimately securing their cards — including Germany’s Marc Hammer from Sandhausen, Baden-Württemberg. The 27-year-old delivered a steady performance throughout the week, finishing with a 70 (-2) on the final day, adding to his earlier rounds of 71–67–72–70. His consistency paid off with a coveted Asian Tour card. Hammer has previous experience on the DP World Tour, where he recorded three top-10 finishes last season.

Other German participants — Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118) — failed to make the cut after the fourth round.
