Marcel Schneider and Nicolai von Dellingshausen remain in the lower third of the field on Moving Day at the DP World Tour in Abu Dhabi.
Saturday lived up to its reputation at the DP World Tour in Abu Dhabi, with the leaderboard shaken up during the third round. Nicolai von Dellingshausen suffered a setback at Yas Links Golf Course, while Marcel Schneider delivered a steady round without making a significant move up the leaderboard.
Marcel Schneider posts solid round at Yas Links
Marcel Schneider started his third round with focus. On the par-5 second hole, he set up a birdie with a precise wedge after solid long play. Another birdie followed on the 7th after a long pitch landed just inches from the hole. At the turn, the 35-year-old stood at two under par. However, back-to-back bogeys on holes 13 and 14 after missed up-and-downs halted his momentum. He recovered with birdies on the 15th and the par-3 17th, finishing with a 70, two under par for the day.
Von Dellingshausen falters early in round three
After a strong start to the tournament, Nicolai von Dellingshausen struggled on Saturday. A drive into the native area on hole 2 led to an early bogey. Missed up-and-downs on holes 3 and 6 pushed his score to +3. He briefly countered with birdies on 7 and 8, including a solid putt on the short par 3. But a bogey on 9 left him at +2 at the turn. The back nine was steady but uneventful, with no birdie chances. A missed short putt on the par-3 17th resulted in a fourth bogey. He signed for a 75 and, like Schneider, will start the final round from T53.
Rai leads tight race heading into final round
While the German duo lingers in the lower ranks, Aaron Rai leads the DP World Tour leaderboard at 20 under par.
