PGA Tour: Adam Schenk wins first title in 243rd attempt
Sunday marked a dream come true for Adam Schenk. In his 243rd PGA Tour event, the American finally broke through to claim his first title. Schenk triumphed when he least expected it, finishing with an even-par 71 in stormy winds to win the Butterfield Bermuda Championship by one stroke. Just two events away from potentially returning to PGA TOUR Q-School as No. 134 in the FedExCup standings, Schenk battled through some of the toughest conditions he had ever faced. With wind gusts exceeding 50 km/h, he managed a birdie and four clutch pars down the stretch. On the final hole, his approach shot sailed just over the green, but instead of using a wedge, he opted for a putter and let the wind guide the ball close to the hole. He sank the final putt to seal the win and jumped to 67th in the FedExCup Fall Rankings, securing his Tour card.
German players hold steady in stormy conditions
German golfers Thomas Rosenmüller, Matti Schmid, and Jeremy Paul managed to keep their rounds together despite the coastal storms in Bermuda. All three shot 73 (+2) on the final day. Rosenmüller played a clean front eleven with only pars before a bogey on 12, which he balanced with a birdie on 14. However, bogeys on the final two holes kept him out of the top 20.
Schmid and Paul both started strong with birdies on the first hole. For Schmid, it was his only birdie of the day, as bogeys on 9, 12, and 16 led to his final score. Paul added another birdie on the third hole but gave it back with three bogeys on the front nine. He picked up another birdie early on the back nine but closed with two more bogeys
