The 156th Open Championship will take place in August 2028 to avoid a scheduling conflict with the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The Open Championship, the oldest golf tournament in the world, will not be held in its traditional July slot in 2028. To avoid overlapping with the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, organizers have moved the Major to August 3–6. The Olympic golf competitions will take place between July 19 and 29. The Senior Open Championship will follow from August 10–13, and the Women’s Open is scheduled for August 17–20.
