2025 Year in Review: The Best and Most Unusual Shots of the Year

The 2025 golf season is coming to an end. We look back on the biggest highlight shots and unforgettable moments of the year – the annual review.

As the 2025 season wraps up, it’s time to look back. From the European Team’s Ryder Cup success and Rory McIlroy’s Grand Slam to many other highlights, there is plenty to remember. Often, people focus on the victories, not the shots that led to them. Yet these shots can be just as spectacular as the achievements themselves. This year, again, legendary shots mesmerized both players and fans alike.

Rory McIlroy’s No. 15 at The Masters

Probably the most legendary shot of the year took place at the 15th hole of The Masters. McIlroy was tied with Justin Rose and Ludvig Aberg after 14 holes. His tee shot veered slightly left, leaving him with a tree between himself and the hole for his second shot on the par-5. While most players would have opted to play safe and secure par, McIlroy took full risk and hit a huge draw, landing the ball just beside the pin. The shot showcased not only his skill but also his incredible determination to finally win The Masters and complete the career Grand Slam in 2025.

Patrick Reed Makes History with Albatross at the US Open

Oakmont is known as one of the toughest golf courses worldwide, making any under-par round potentially a title-winning effort at the US Open. Patrick Reed’s second shot on the 568-meter par-5 4th hole at the 2025 US Open was astonishing. Using his fairway wood from 261 meters out, he holed the ball for an albatross—only the fourth in US Open history and the first ever at Oakmont.
