The 2025 season is coming to an end. We look back at the biggest highlight shots and unforgettable moments of the year – the yearly review. As the 2025 season closes, it’s time to reflect. With the European team’s Ryder Cup victory, Rory McIlroy’s Grand Slam, and many other highlights, there’s plenty to remember this year. Rarely do people focus on the individual shots that led to these triumphs, yet these shots are often as spectacular as the victories themselves. This year brought legendary shots that both players and fans will recall for a long time.
Rory McIlroy’s Shot on 15th Hole at the Masters
Arguably the most legendary shot of the year came at the 15th hole of the Masters. McIlroy was tied with Justin Rose and Ludvig Aberg after 14 holes. His tee shot drifted slightly left, leaving a tree between him and the green for his second shot on the par-5 hole. While most players would have opted for a safer position to secure par, McIlroy took a full-risk shot with a massive draw toward the green, landing the ball just beside the pin. This shot exemplified his skill and determination to finally win the Masters and complete the Career Grand Slam in 2025.
Patrick Reed Makes Golf History with an Albatross at the US Open
Oakmont is one of the toughest golf courses in the world, and the US Open is known as a tournament where even a round under par can contend for the title. Patrick Reed’s second shot on the 568-meter par-5 4th hole this year was extraordinary. Using a fairway wood from 261 meters, he holed out for an albatross, only the fourth in US Open history and the first ever at Oakmont.
J.J. Spaun’s 20-Meter Putt for US Open Victory
His first major win is unforgettable, especially when achieved like J.J. Spaun did at the US Open. After four grueling days and a tough Sunday start, Spaun only needed to make par on the back nine to secure his major triumph. Instead, he holed a 20-meter birdie putt to claim victory, showcasing an extraordinary finish to his breakthrough win.
Longest Putt on PGA Tour Since 2008: 32 Meters
At the Valero Texas Open, Patrick Fishburn was among the tournament’s highlights despite finishing T5. On hole 17, he sank an eagle putt from 32 meters, the longest putt on the PGA Tour since 2008, propelling him into the Top 5 on the final day.
Rory McIlroy’s Eagle to Force Playoff at the Irish Open
On September 7th at the K Club in Ireland, McIlroy delivered an 8-meter eagle putt on the 18th hole under pressure, forcing a playoff against Joakim Lagergren. Rory went on to win the tournament in a thrilling home victory.
