2025 Year in Review: The Best and Most Unforgettable Golf Shots

The 2025 golf season comes to an end. We look back at the biggest highlight shots and memorable moments of the year.

As the 2025 season wraps up, it’s time to look back. With the European team’s Ryder Cup victory, Rory McIlroy’s Grand Slam achievements, and many more highlights, there is plenty to remember from this year. Often, the shots leading to these successes are just as spectacular as the victories themselves. This year was no different, with legendary shots that players and fans alike will recall for a long time.

Rory McIlroy’s Shot on Hole 15 at the Masters

The most legendary shot of the year likely happened on hole 15 of the Masters. After 14 holes, Rory McIlroy was tied with Justin Rose and Ludvig Aberg. His drive veered slightly left, leaving a tree between him and the green on this par-5. While most players would have played it safe to secure par, McIlroy took a bold risk, hitting a massive draw shot close to the flag. This shot not only demonstrated his skill but also his strong determination to finally win the Masters and complete his career Grand Slam in 2025.

Patrick Reed Makes Golf History with Albatross at the US Open

Oakmont is known as one of the toughest golf courses worldwide, and the US Open is a tournament where scoring under par is a challenge. The fourth hole saw Patrick Reed pull off an incredible feat this year. On the 568-meter par-5, Reed used his fairway wood on the second shot from 261 meters and holed it for an albatross – only the fourth time in US Open history and the first at Oakmont ever.

J.J. Spaun’s 20-Meter Putt Seals US Open Victory

A first major victory is unforgettable, especially when won as memorably as J.J. Spaun did at the US Open. After four grueling days and a rough start on Sunday, Spaun advanced with a strong back nine. He only needed to make par on the final hole to claim his maiden major, but instead calmly sank a 20-meter birdie putt to clinch the title.
