2025 Year in Review: The Best and Most Remarkable Golf Shots

The 2025 season is drawing to a close. We look back at the biggest highlight shots and unforgettable moments of the year – the annual review.

As the 2025 season ends, it’s time to look back. With the European Team’s Ryder Cup victory, Rory McIlroy’s Grand Slam, and many other highlights, there is much to remember from this year. Often, the individual shots behind these successes are overlooked, yet these shots can be as spectacular as the achievements themselves. This year again featured legendary shots that players and fans alike will remember for a long time.

Rory McIlroy’s No. 15 at The Masters

Probably the most legendary shot of the year came at the 15th hole of The Masters. Rory McIlroy was tied after 14 holes with Justin Rose and Ludvig Aberg. His tee shot veered slightly left, leaving a tree between him and the green for his second shot on the par-5 hole. While most players would have played safely to secure a par, McIlroy took full risk and executed an enormous draw toward the green, placing the ball just next to the pin. This shot not only showed McIlroy’s skill but also his incredible determination this year to finally win The Masters and complete the Career Grand Slam.

Patrick Reed Makes History with an Albatross at the U.S. Open

Oakmont is considered one of the toughest golf courses worldwide, and the U.S. Open is a tournament where even a round under par is a strong chance to win. Patrick Reed’s second shot at the 568-meter par-5 fourth hole in this year’s U.S. Open was especially unbelievable. Using his fairway wood, he made an albatross from 261 meters directly into the hole. This was only the fourth albatross in U.S. Open history and the first ever at Oakmont.

J.J. Spaun’s 20-Meter Putt for U.S. Open Victory

First major wins are unforgettable, especially when won as dramatically as J.J. Spaun did at the U.S. Open. After four grueling days and a tough start to his final round on Sunday, Spaun needed only to make par on the last hole to clinch his maiden major title. Instead, he sank a thrilling 20-meter birdie putt to secure his victory.
