2025 Year in Review: The Best and Most Remarkable Shots of the Year

The 2025 golf season is coming to an end. We look back at the year’s biggest highlight shots and unforgettable moments – the annual review.

As the 2025 season concludes, it’s time to reflect. With the European team’s Ryder Cup triumph, Rory McIlroy’s Grand Slam, and many more highlights, there’s plenty to remember. Often, people don’t focus on the individual shots that led to these successes – yet these shots are often as spectacular as the victories themselves. This year too, legendary shots were made that players and fans alike will remember for a long time.

Rory McIlroy’s Shot on the 15th at the Masters

Probably the most legendary shot of the year came on the 15th hole at the Masters. Rory McIlroy was tied with Justin Rose and Ludvig Aberg after 14 holes. His tee shot veered slightly left, leaving a tree between him and the green before his second shot on this par-5 hole. While most players would have played conservatively to secure par, McIlroy took full risk, hitting a huge draw towards the green landing just beside the pin. This shot not only demonstrated the Northern Irishman’s skill but also his incredible determination to finally win the Masters and complete the Career Grand Slam this year.

Patrick Reed Makes Golf History with Albatross at the US Open

Oakmont is one of the toughest golf courses worldwide and the US Open is a tournament where an under-par round can secure a title chance. Even more incredible was Patrick Reed’s fourth hole at this year’s US Open. At the 568-meter par-5, Reed took his fairway wood for his second shot and holed it from 261 meters for an albatross. This was only the fourth albatross in US Open history and the first ever at Oakmont.
