The 2025 season is coming to an end. We look back at the biggest highlight shots and unforgettable moments of the year – the annual review.

As the 2025 season ends, it’s time to look back. From the European Team Ryder Cup victory, Rory McIlroy’s Grand Slam, to many other highlights, there is much to remember this year. Often, the shots leading to these successes are just as spectacular as the achievements themselves. This year again featured legendary shots that players and fans will recall for a long time.

Rory McIlroy’s Shot on Hole 15 at the Masters

Perhaps the most legendary shot of the year came at the 15th hole of the Masters. Rory McIlroy was tied after 14 holes with Justin Rose and Ludvig Aberg. His tee shot went slightly left, leaving a tree between him and the green on this par-5 hole. While most players would play safe to secure a par, McIlroy took a full-risk draw shot towards the green, landing the ball just next to the pin. This shot showcased not only his skill but also his incredible determination to win the Masters and complete the Career Grand Slam this year.

Patrick Reed Makes Golf History with Albatross at the US Open

Oakmont is known as one of the toughest golf courses globally and the US Open as a tournament where a round under par already gives a chance for the title. Even more incredible was Patrick Reed’s fourth hole at this year’s US Open. On the 568-meter par-5, Reed used his fairway wood for the second shot and holed it from 261 meters for an albatross. Only the fourth in US Open history and the first ever at Oakmont.

J.J. Spaun’s 20-Meter Putt to Win the US Open

One never forgets their first major victory, especially when it is won like J.J. Spaun at the US Open. After four exhausting days and a Sunday that started poorly, Spaun mounted a back nine comeback and only needed to make par to claim his first major title. Instead, he sank a 20-meter birdie putt to seal the win.

32-Meter Longest Putt on the PGA Tour Since 2008

At the Valero Texas Open on the PGA Tour, Patrick Fishburn became the highlight of the tournament despite finishing tied for fifth. On the 17th hole, he made a putt from 32 meters, the longest on the PGA Tour since 2008, propelling him into the top 5 on the final day.

Rory McIlroy’s Eagle to Force Playoff at the Irish Open

A deafening cheer erupted on September 7 at the 18th hole of the K Club in Ireland when Rory McIlroy, under pressure, holed an 8-meter eagle putt to force a playoff against Joakim Lagergren. He ultimately won the tournament, celebrating a home victory.
