TGL expands: The new WTGL launches its own arena league for LPGA Tour players starting late 2026.
The idea had been in the air for some time and is now official: TGL is getting a sister league. What had been hinted at for months was confirmed during a press conference by TMRW CEO Mike McCarley and LPGA Commissioner Craig Kessler at the SoFi Center in Florida. TGL is entering its next phase, and this time it’s the women’s turn.
WTGL: Familiar Concept, New Faces
What works for the men is set to succeed in women’s golf as well: two teams, two hours, one match, played in a high-tech setup featuring simulators, real turf, and a shot clock. The audience in the arena sees every shot live, as do viewers at home. The microphones are in constant use again. “It’s about showing personality, not just performance,” says McCarley.
A New Stage for Women’s Golf
For the LPGA, the new league is more than just an additional platform. The WTGL aims beyond extra playing days. TGL has demonstrated that the arena format reaches new audiences who often only casually follow traditional tournament golf. Over 40 percent of fans in the first season were aged 18 to 49, many of whom had no previous connection to golf. This reach is now expected to benefit women’s golf as well.
Commissioner Craig Kessler, appointed in summer 2025, sees the partnership with TMRW Sports as a strategic move. Fans should get to know the players better and experience their stories—not just through the scorecard. “We want to create closeness, trust, and bring our athletes into the spotlight,” says Kessler. Interest is high: Many top players have already shown interest, and some have visited the SoFi Center to watch the men’s matches.
