TGL: Atlanta Drive GC Extends Winning Streak Against The Bay GC

Atlanta Drive GC wins an exciting TGL match 7:4 against The Bay GC, maintaining their unbeaten streak.

Before the third match of the new TGL season, roles were clear: defending champion Atlanta Drive GC came into the SoFi Center with a win under their belt, while The Bay Golf Club faced their season opener. After 15 holes, the final score was 7:4. The deciding advantage came from the team around Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup, who, as often, secured four of six possible points in the singles format. After an even start, Atlanta upped their game from hole 11. \”We come in, train, play our game – that fits,\” said Horschel. Even without the injured Justin Thomas, the depth of the squad shows. This was their ninth win in the last ten TGL matches – an impressive record.

TGL: Gotterup Brings Atlanta Back Into The Game

For the second consecutive time, Chris Gotterup scored for Atlanta and was again a key factor. After a scoreless start on hole 1, he put Atlanta ahead with a par putt from nearly nine feet on hole 2. The Bay immediately responded on the following holes with the Hammer play, putting Atlanta 1:2 behind. The first clear momentum shift happened on hole 6, called \”Alpine.\” After The Bay had leveled, Gotterup chipped in for eagle, bringing Atlanta back to level. Though The Bay did not use the Hammer, the emotional impact was felt: a tie. \”I try to see as much as possible on the greens – with all the lights, it’s not easy,\” Gotterup said later. \”But when you make those putts, you know what to expect.\”
