TGL: Atlanta Drive GC Continues Winning Streak Against The Bay GC

Atlanta Drive GC wins an exciting TGL match 7:4 against The Bay GC and remains unbeaten.

Before the third match of the new TGL season, roles were clear: defending champions Atlanta Drive GC entered the SoFi Center with an opening win, while The Bay Golf Club was making its season debut. After 15 holes, the final score was 7:4. The team around Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup secured the decisive lead, particularly in the singles format where Atlanta took four of six points. After an even start, Atlanta made a push from hole 11. ‘We come in here, practice, play our game – it fits,’ said Horschel. Despite the absence of the injured Justin Thomas, the team performed well, showcasing their depth. This marked their ninth win in the last ten TGL matches—a remarkable record.

TGL: Gotterup Brings Atlanta Back Into The Game

For the second consecutive time, Chris Gotterup scored for Atlanta and was a key factor. After a scoreless start on hole 1, he put Atlanta ahead with a par putt from nearly nine feet on hole 2. The Bay responded immediately by using their Hammer on the next holes, taking a 2:1 lead. The first significant momentum shift came on hole 6, called ‘Alpine’. After The Bay had evened the match, Gotterup made a chip-in eagle to tie the match again. Even though The Bay did not use their Hammer, the emotional impact was evident: the score was level. ‘I try to see as much as possible on the greens – with all the lighting, it’s not easy,’ Gotterup later said. ‘But when you make such putts, you know what to expect.’
