TGL kicks off Season Two – Tiger Woods takes on a new role

New holes, bigger green, more cameras and team Signature Holes: ‘We’re playing a high-tech video game,’ says Billy Horschel.

It’s Game Day: The Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL) kicks off its second season today at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The season runs through March 3 and opens with a rematch of the inaugural final, where Atlanta Drive edged out New York on the final hole to claim the first indoor golf title.

Tiger Woods joins the mic

The six teams remain unchanged, but TGL co-owner and superstar Tiger Woods, along with Atlanta’s Justin Thomas, will sit out early matches due to back surgery recovery. Woods, however, has promised to be present at every Jupiter Links GC match starting January 13, mic’d up and ready to contribute. Fans can expect the 15-time major champion to offer commentary and perhaps even some entertainment value as he supports his team from the sidelines.

Tech upgrades and Signature Holes

Season Two brings several technical upgrades. The putting green has been expanded by 38 percent to nearly 500 square meters, now featuring 12 pin positions instead of seven. Over 600 actuators simulate slopes and breaks, making the green more readable. ‘It benefits great putters,’ says Wyndham Clark of The Bay. The artificial turf has also been adjusted so that all chips now go with the grain, allowing for more shot creativity and viewer excitement.

Signature Holes are another highlight. Each team now has a custom-designed hole reflecting its identity. New York’s ‘Big Apple’ hole features the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty, while Atlanta’s ‘Fore-O-Fore’ showcases the city’s silhouette. Gil Hanse’s ‘Stone & Steeple’ for Boston includes a church and cemetery, reminding players that imprecise shots may not survive long.

Enhanced viewing experience

TGL has also improved its broadcast technology. The SoFi Center now features 79 cameras, including the award-winning SmartPin Cam offering 360-degree views from the pin’s perspective. The Virtual-Eye system has been upgraded for better shot comparisons and ball tracking, enhancing the overall viewer experience. With Tiger Woods on the mic and new tech in play, Season Two promises to be a high-tech golf spectacle.
