At the start of the year, TGL reveals personal New Year’s resolutions of its star players before their matches.
As the TGL enters its second season, it continues with its innovative approach: six teams, each with four top PGA Tour players, competing in a 3-on-3 format. Matches take place indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000 square-foot high-tech complex with seating for about 1,600 fans. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, matches include 15 holes divided into two segments: nine holes in alternating team play (“Triples”) and six holes in direct singles competition. The season consists of five regular encounters per team, followed by playoffs with semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded NHL-style, including bonuses for overtime.
Coffee, Character, Continuity: The TGL’s Outlook for the New Year
This stage brings familiar faces together as the new season begins, and the TGL shares insight into the players’ resolutions—ranging from small habits to major personal goals. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: making coffee at home instead of visiting Starbucks or Dunkin’ every morning. The machine is ready; now he just needs to learn how to operate it. Billy Horschel aimed more fundamentally for a better version of himself, especially off the course.
Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions
Xander Schauffele kept it brief. “I don’t do that. I am just me,” he said dryly—typical of someone who doesn’t need a show. Horschel was impressed. “We all wish we were Xander,” he laughed. Schauffele replied dryly, “I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.”

Michael Thorbjornsen had a clear wish: to play more tournaments with Collin Morikawa. Morikawa liked the idea but didn’t have a resolution of his own yet. Sahith Theegala was concise: “Stay injury-free. Play well.” And Justin Rose? He reflected on past resolutions that didn’t stick and vowed to do better this year: “No more years where I don’t keep my resolutions.”
