TGL Golf Stars Share Honest New Year’s Resolutions for 2026

At the turn of the year, TGL reveals the New Year’s resolutions of its star players ahead of their match day.

Entering its second season, the TGL continues with its innovative format: Six teams, each composed of four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 setup. Matches are played indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000-square-foot high-tech complex with seating for around 1,600 spectators. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, matches feature 15 holes split into two parts: nine holes in team alternate shot (‘Triples’) format and six holes in direct head-to-head singles competition. The season includes five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs with semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded following the NHL model, including overtime bonuses.

Coffee, Character, and Continuity: TGL’s Take on New Year’s Resolutions

This platform brings together familiar faces on the course, and as the new season begins, TGL offers a glimpse into the personal resolutions of its players. These range from small daily goals to significant personal ambitions. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: making coffee at home instead of visiting Starbucks or Dunkin’s each morning. The machine is ready; he just needs to learn to operate it. Billy Horschel’s resolution was more profound: aiming to be a better version of himself, especially off the golf course.

Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions

Xander Schauffele kept it brief and to the point. ‘I don’t do that. I’m just me,’ he said dryly—typical of someone who doesn’t feel the need for showmanship. Horschel was impressed, joking, ‘We’d all like to be Xander.’ Schauffele replied dryly, ‘I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.’

Michael Thorbjornsen had a clear wish: to play more tournaments with Collin Morikawa. Morikawa liked the idea but didn’t have a resolution himself yet. Sahith Theegala was concise and straightforward: ‘Stay healthy. Don’t play poorly.’ Justin Rose reflected on past failed resolutions and vowed to do better this time: ‘No more years where I fail to keep my resolutions.’
