At the turn of the year, TGL reveals the New Year’s resolutions of its star players before their match day.
Entering its second season, TGL continues its innovative format: six teams with four top PGA Tour players each compete in a 3-on-3 format. Matches are played indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000-square-foot high-tech venue seating around 1,600 fans. Instead of classic 18-hole rounds, matches feature 15 holes split into two segments: nine holes of alternate shot (‘Triples’) followed by six holes of singles match play. The season includes five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs with semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded in a system inspired by the NHL, including bonuses for overtime.
New Year, New Goals: TGL Players Reflect on Their Resolutions
This stage gathers familiar faces as TGL shares insights into players’ personal New Year’s resolutions. Some are practical, like Chris Gotterup, who aims to brew coffee at home instead of daily Starbucks or Dunkin’s visits. Billy Horschel focuses on self-improvement beyond the golf course, aiming to be a better version of himself.
Xander Schauffele: No Resolutions Needed
Xander Schauffele kept it simple: ‘I don’t do resolutions. I am just me,’ he said dryly, a man who needs no spotlight. Horschel admired this, joking, ‘We’d all like to be Xander.’ Schauffele replied, ‘I’m not sure… maybe you’d be happier.’

Michael Thorbjornsen expressed a clear wish: to compete in more tournaments with Collin Morikawa, who liked the idea but had no resolution ready. Sahith Theegala’s goals were straightforward: ‘Stay injury-free. Don’t play badly.’ Justin Rose reflected on past failed resolutions and vowed to change that this year: ‘No more years where I don’t keep my resolutions.’
