At the turn of the year, TGL reveals the New Year’s resolutions of its star players ahead of their match day.
Entering its second season, TGL remains true to its innovative format: six teams, each with four top PGA Tour players, face off in a 3-on-3 competition. Matches are played indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000-square-foot high-tech facility with seating for around 1,600 spectators. Instead of the traditional 18 holes, matches feature 15 holes divided into two segments: nine holes played in rotating triples format and six holes in head-to-head singles play. The season consists of five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs with semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded following an NHL-style system, including overtime bonuses.
Coffee, Character, Continuity: TGL Reflects at New Year
This unique stage brings familiar faces together on the course, as TGL shares insights into the personal New Year’s resolutions of its players kicking off the new season. These resolutions range from small practical goals to bigger personal ambitions. Chris Gotterup took a practical angle: making coffee at home instead of visiting Starbucks or Dunkin’ every morning. The machine is ready, but the operator is still learning. Billy Horschel took a deeper approach, aiming to become a better version of himself, especially off the golf course.
Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolution
Xander Schauffele kept it simple: “I don’t do that. I’m just me,” he said dryly—typical of someone who doesn’t need the spotlight. Horschel was impressed, joking, “We all want to be Xander.” Schauffele replied dryly, “I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.”

Michael Thorbjornsen expressed a clear wish: to play more tournaments alongside Collin Morikawa, who liked the idea but had no resolution of his own yet. Sahith Theegala was succinct: “Stay injury-free. Play well.” And Justin Rose? He reflected on past resolutions that never materialized and vowed to change this year: “Not another year where I don’t keep my resolutions.”
