TGL Golf Stars Share New Year’s Resolutions Ahead of Season

At the turn of the year, TGL reveals the New Year’s resolutions of its star players before their match day. With its second season underway, the TGL continues its innovative approach: six teams, each with four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. Played indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000-square-foot high-tech complex with room for around 1,600 spectators, matches consist of 15 holes divided into two segments: nine holes in a team rotation (‘Triples’) and six in direct head-to-head play (‘Singles’). The season includes five regular encounters per team, followed by playoffs featuring semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded NHL-style – including overtime bonuses.

Coffee, Character, Continuity: TGL’s Take on New Year’s

This stage brings familiar faces together on the course as, at the start of the new season, TGL offers a glimpse into the players’ resolutions. These range from small, personal goals to larger aspirations. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: brewing coffee at home instead of grabbing Starbucks or Dunkin’s every morning. The machine is ready; mastering it is the next step. Billy Horschel was more fundamental, aiming to be a better version of himself, especially off the golf course.

Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions

Xander Schauffele kept it short: ‘I don’t do that. I’m just me,’ he said dryly – the kind of person who doesn’t need a show. Horschel was impressed: ‘We all wish we were Xander,’ he laughed. Schauffele replied dryly: ‘I’m not sure… maybe you’d be happier.’

Michael Thorbjornsen expressed a clear wish: more tournaments with Collin Morikawa. Morikawa liked the idea but didn’t have a resolution yet. Sahith Theegala was brief and clear: ‘Not to get injured. Not to play badly.’ And Justin Rose? He recalled past resolutions that never worked – and vowed to do better this time: ‘No more years where I don’t keep my resolutions.’
