PGA Tour: Rosenmüller climbs leaderboard with late eagle

Thomas Rosenmüller made a big move on the second day of the PGA Tour’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship, thanks to a strong round and a late eagle. All three German players in the field managed to make the cut, with Rosenmüller climbing near the top 20. Matti Schmid rebounded from a rough start on Thursday, while Jeremy Paul barely held on after a disappointing finish. Canadian Adam Hadwin remains in the lead, ahead of Americans Chandler Phillips and Braden Thornberry.

PGA Tour: Rosenmüller’s eagle sparks leaderboard jump

Thomas Rosenmüller impressed on Friday with a solid round and minimal mistakes, capped off by an eagle on the 17th hole. His round started with ups and downs, including a bogey on the 2nd and inconsistent play through holes 6 to 8. After birdies on the 6th and 8th, he made the turn at even par. On the back nine, the 28-year-old showed more control, adding a birdie on the 10th and saving the highlight for the par-5 17th, where he reached the green in two and holed the putt for eagle. He finished with a 68, putting him at T24 heading into the weekend.

Matti Schmid also gained ground with a strong round. He opened with three consecutive birdies on holes 12, 13, and 14, but lost momentum with bogeys on 15 and 18. He played steady golf on the front nine, adding a birdie on the 11th and avoiding major mistakes. His 69 moved him up to T46.

Late stumble for Jeremy Paul

Jeremy Paul, the top German on Thursday, struggled to maintain his form. After a clean start, he remained at even par through 14 holes. A poor drive on the 15th led to a bogey, but he recovered with a birdie on 17. However, a double bogey on the 18th, where he needed three putts after missing the green, left him with a 73. At even par for the tournament, he narrowly made the cut.
