MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage with Sky Commentator Gregor Biernath

Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, boosting the new golf team as extensive live broadcasts begin.

After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV further strengthens its golf coverage by bringing in a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The broadcasts will commence on January 15, 2026, offering a total of 131 live golf events across two channels on MagentaTV, establishing it as the new home for live golf on television.

Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Good for Golf Is Emerging’

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf commentators in the German-speaking world, leaves Sky to lead MagentaTV’s new expert golf commentary team. He is supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath remarked, ‘The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good is emerging for golf. We can innovate and shake up golf coverage at MagentaTV.’ He also praised the team as a ‘cool editorial team’ and described the mix as ‘really good.’

New faces will also join the commentator team. Michael Born, formerly known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will work alongside Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel to cover golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will join the live broadcasts as well.
