MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage with Sky Commentator Gregor Biernath

Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, strengthening the new golf team as extensive live coverage begins.

After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV also gains a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The broadcasts will start on January 15, 2026, positioning MagentaTV as the new home for live golf on TV with 131 events on two channels.

Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Exciting is Emerging for Golf’

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking world, leaves Sky to lead MagentaTV’s new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath commented on his move: ‘The entire team immediately gave me a feeling that something new and good for golf can emerge here. We can innovate and shake up golf coverage at MagentaTV.’ He also described the new team as a ‘cool editorial team’ with a ‘really good mix.’

New faces were also sought and found among commentators. Michael Born, previously a handball and football commentator for DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel in covering golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known mainly as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
