Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, boosting the new golf team ahead of extensive live broadcasts.
After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has now welcomed a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. Live coverage will begin on January 15, 2026, offering a total of 131 events across two channels, establishing MagentaTV as the new home for live golf on television.
Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Good is Emerging for Golf”
Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking world, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. He will lead the new expert team supported by golf professionals Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath commented on his move: “The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good can emerge for golf. We can shape and shake up golf coverage innovatively at MagentaTV.” He described the team as a “cool editorial team” and a “really good mix.”
New faces have also been brought in for commentary. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel to call golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known for ice hockey moderation on MagentaSport, will also be part of the upcoming live coverage.
