Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV to strengthen the new golf team as extensive live broadcasts begin.
After MagentaTV secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, a prominent commentator is also switching from Sky Sport to MagentaTV. The broadcasts will start as early as January 15, 2026, offering a total of 131 events across two channels as the new home for live golf on television.
Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Good for Golf Is Being Created Here”
Gregor Biernath, one of the most well-known golf voices in the German-speaking region, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. Biernath will lead the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Commenting on his move, Biernath said, “The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf can be created here. We can innovate and refresh golf coverage on MagentaTV.” He also described the new team as a “cool editorial team” and noted it was a “really good mix.”
New faces were also sought and found in the commentators’ area. Michael Born, who has previously commentated handball and football for DAZN, will now work alongside Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel to commentate the golf events. Furthermore, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also join the upcoming live broadcasts.
