MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage with Sky Commentator Gregor Biernath Joining

Gregor Biernath joins MagentaTV from Sky, boosting the new golf team for extensive live coverage starting January 15, 2026.

After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has also welcomed a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The broadcasts will begin on January 15, 2026, offering a total of 131 golf events live on two channels, positioning MagentaTV as the new home for live golf on television.

Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Good is Emerging for Golf”

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognizable golf voices in the German-speaking world, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. He will lead the new expert team, which includes golf professionals Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Regarding his move, Biernath stated, “The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf is emerging here. We can innovate and refresh golf coverage on MagentaTV.” He also described the team as a “cool editorial team” and highlighted the “really good mix.”

New faces have also been added to the commentary team. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will join commentators Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel for golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily for ice hockey hosting on MagentaSport, will also be part of the upcoming live broadcasts.
