Old Course Ranfurly’s 3rd Green Undergoes Major Renovation

Old Course Ranfurly invests in improving drainage on the 3rd green for better year-round playability.

In recent years our 3rd green has consistently suffered from poor drainage, often remaining unplayable for long periods over winter after heavy rainfall, unlike the almost all of the rest of our greens which stand up very well to such weather. 🌧️ As anyone who knows the course well will know, year round playability and excellent drainage is something we pride ourselves on at Old Course Ranfurly! With that in mind, the decision was taken this winter to invest in a renovation project of the 3rd green, raising and reshaping it while also carrying out significant bunker, drainage and irrigation work. In doing so, it will help us to ensure this green is playable all year round other than extreme weather, as the majority of our other greens are.

Renovation Work Progress

The team have faced all of the elements this winter and have worked extremely hard on this project. This week, they have managed to complete the turfing of the green and apron and the project is starting to take shape ahead of the new season! ⛳️👏
