Three players secured spots for the upcoming LIV Golf season, including returning star Anthony Kim.
A spot in the LIV Golf League is fiercely contested. At the promotions held at Black Diamond Ranch, 22 players competed for exactly three wildcards for the 2026 season. Over two final rounds and 36 holes under intense pressure, Richard T. Lee, Bjorn Hellgren, and Anthony Kim earned their places for the upcoming LIV Golf season starting February 4 in Riyadh. Additionally, ten other players qualified for the International Series on the Asian Tour.

Richard T. Lee Shines at LIV Golf Promotions
Canadian Richard T. Lee won the LIV Golf Promotions with a total score of eleven under par. With rounds of 64 and 65 during the final weekend, he surged to the top. Lee is the first Canadian to qualify for LIV Golf. His decision to participate was made shortly before the event, as he registered in early January. Lee, a professional with six tournament wins, has played in recent years on the Asian and Korean Tours and was named Asian Tour Rookie of the Year in 2013.
Hellgren Takes a Risk and Reaps Rewards
Bjorn Hellgren faced a challenging position on Sunday, standing 11th and needing to catch up. The Swede went all-in, making four birdies in the last six holes to shoot a 64 — tying the course record — and secured second place. His final round featured strong tee shots, precise approach shots, and hot putting. Hellgren will compete on LIV Golf for the first time in 2026. The 35-year-old brings eight professional victories, including a win at the Saudi Open in December.
Anthony Kim Returns to LIV Golf on His Own Merit
Anthony Kim is no stranger to the LIV Golf scene, but his third start in the league carries a special significance. After returning in 2024 following a twelve-year hiatus, Kim had two years of wildcard status before it ended. Now, he earned his spot outright. With a 66 on Saturday and a 69 on Sunday, including smart course management and a crucial putt on the 14th hole, he finished third. At 40, Kim continues his comeback after twelve years away from professional golf, now with a permanent position on the LIV Golf schedule. \”I believe in myself more than anyone else,\” Kim said, and his story makes that believable.
