LIV Golf Grants Three Wildcards for the 2026 Season

Three players, including comeback star Anthony Kim, secured spots for the upcoming LIV Golf 2026 season at the Black Diamond Ranch.

A spot in the LIV Golf League is fiercely contested. At the promotions event at Black Diamond Ranch, 22 players competed for exactly three wildcards for the 2026 season. After two final rounds and 36 holes under intense pressure, Richard T. Lee, Bjorn Hellgren, and Anthony Kim secured their places for next year’s LIV Golf season, which starts February 4th in Riyadh. Besides the wildcards, ten other players qualified for the International Series of the Asian Tour.

Richard T. Lee Triumphs at LIV Golf Promotions

Canadian Richard T. Lee won the LIV Golf Promotions with a total score of eleven under par. With rounds of 64 and 65 on the final weekend, he clearly climbed to the top. He is the first Canadian to qualify for LIV Golf. Lee’s decision to participate was last-minute, as he registered only in early January for the event. He boasts six professional wins and has played on the Asian and Korean Tours, earning the Asian Tour Rookie of the Year in 2013.

Hellgren Takes Bold Risks, Reaps Rewards

Bjorn Hellgren began Sunday in 11th place, with an uncomfortable position. The Swedish player went all-in, recording four birdies on the last six holes and a 64, tying the course record, earning second place. His final day performance featured long tee shots, accurate greens, and sharp putting. Hellgren will compete in LIV Golf for the first time in 2026. The 35-year-old has eight professional victories, including the Saudi Open in December.

Anthony Kim Returns to LIV Golf on His Own Merit

Anthony Kim is no stranger to the LIV Golf scene, but his third league start carries a special significance. After returning in 2024 following a twelve-year hiatus and playing with a two-year wildcard, he has now earned his spot outright. Posting rounds of 66 on Saturday and 69 on Sunday secured him third place, highlighted by smart course management and a crucial putt on the 14th hole. At 40, Kim continues his comeback after 12 years away from competitive golf, now with a secured place on the LIV Golf calendar. “I believe in myself more than anyone else,” he stated, a sentiment easy to believe given his story.
